Let’s talk the Oregon Coast! It’s becoming a favorite destination for families across the United States. Peak season is the summertime when it’s generally drier and the temperatures are around 75 degrees. It’s always been an escape from the heat for Portlanders, but the rugged tree-lined coastline draws more people every year. It’s really a magical place, and today I’m sharing my favorite spot on the Oregon Coast near me: Lincoln City. If you’re looking for a Lincoln City Photographer, let’s get in to why this is a great place for your family photos!

Why Choose Lincoln City for Your Family Photos

Fewer Crowds

This is never a guarantee, of course! But with Portland being the most-populated city in Oregon and Seaside/Cannon Beach just a freeway drive away, most people head to one of the northern beaches. That means the further south you go, the less crowded the beach typically is. While Lincoln City still thrives on its tourism and does get busy during peak season, I always find it manageable.

Drive through wine country on your way to Lincoln City

If you’re coming from Portland, head south on I-5 first before cutting over to the beach. You’ll wind through Oregon’s wine country in the Willamette Valley, a truly beautiful part of Oregon.

Kid-friendly beaches

Looking for beaches that are a little more protected from the ocean, or that are angled so the light hits just right in the late afternoon so you can still hit that toddler bedtime? I have a few favorite spots as a Lincoln City photographer that are just perfect! For the session you see in this post, we were photographing around 3pm–making sure the little one didn’t miss his bedtime and was in a great mood. There was plenty of room to play while the sun angled down just perfectly on them, even though it wasn’t anywhere near golden hour. And Lincoln City itself? So kid-friendly!
