As a photographer serving Vancouver WA and the greater Portland metro area, I have the honor of planning photo sessions and creating artwork with some of the kindest families. Today I’m sharing one of these families, and their morning garden session that highlighted their family’s joyful, connected love.
Morning sessions truly are the best choice for families with very young children. We avoid the witching hour with babies, toddlers are well-rested and ready to play, and everyone is just generally in a better mood! Summer mornings in particular are a great idea. Who doesn’t want to avoid the afternoon heat in summer? Mornings work just as well for fall and spring session, though. It might be a little chillier on spring or fall mornings, so plan to layer up so everyone can be comfortable and happy.
This sweet family contacted me after seeing my work on Instagram. When we were planning our session, it was important to them to have artwork that showed their family’s connection and genuine love for each other. We chose a sunny morning in early fall to create light, bright images full of quiet joy.
I adored the dress mom chose. I always encourage my clients to look for flowy dresses in soft colors. It adds a softness and sense of movement to your final images. This slate blue maxi dress with subtle pleats from Anthropologie was perfect!
Their family story is one full of several moves around the country, including stints in California and Washington State, before realizing they truly loved Lake Oswego. How wonderful to be able to move to the city you chose because you loved it so much!
