There’s nothing quite like Oregon wine country in the summer–except, well, Oregon wine country family photos in the summer! I might be biased, but the sun setting over the rolling hills of Yamhill county just has my heart. It’s such a short drive from Portland, but for families looking for a slower paced, country feel in their family photos, it’s so worth it. When families are looking for photographers in McMinnville, Oregon or the surrounding wine country, I know we’re aiming for these rolling hills in the background. The valley was showing off on this day, and to make it even better, this sweet family came ready for fun. When the parents put the emphasis on relaxing and letting the kids be themselves, we really do get magical moments.
I always try to take plenty of photos of just the kids, too–especially ones that highlight their relationship. These two were besties during the session: active, goofy, and loving!
My favorite way to get a portrait of elementary-aged children (okay, most children) continues to be in mama’s arms. They’re cozy and genuinely happy: the best memories to put on film.
This next image reminds me of everything summer. The sunset glow, a tall field, wind blowing through hair, and a ruffled sundress.
