If you’re looking for the best toy stores in Portland, Oregon to find a gift or explore with the family in, this list will keep you busy! From classic toys to educational toys to fidget toys, these PDX toy shops have it covered. These are seven of my favorite Portland toy stores:
Mudpuddles Toy Store
This is our family’s favorite of the toy stores in Portland, Oregon! They have a wide variety of toys with a focus on high quality toys for the preschool through tween set. Our favorite finds there are Calico Critters, science toys, craft kits, and pretend play toys.
16420 SW Langer Dr, Sherwood, OR 97140
2305 NW Kearney St, Portland, OR 97210
Thinker Toys
Multnomah Village Toy Store
This Multnomah Village toy store is a local landmark! Owned by two science teachers since 1994, Thinker Toys is a whimsical toy shop in a quintessentially quirky Portland neighborhood, worth an afternoon stroll. The owners aim to source “the very best toys, designed and built to last a lifetime.” I know when we shop at Thinker Toys, my kids will get smart, hands-on toys that spark their imaginations. In 2020, they began offering online shopping as well as next-day delivery to Portland, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and Vancouver.
7784 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR 97219
Spielwerk Toys
North Portland Toy Store
This is a great stop when you’re in North Portland–pick up some “toys for the werk of play.” I love their focus on simple, natural toys that encourage open-ended play. They stay true to that mission with a play area in the store and by hosting events that inspire children to build their own toys.
3808 N Williams Ave #121, Portland, OR 97227
The Bull & the Bee
Sellwood Toy Store
This is an adorable baby boutique that carries thoughtful gear and gifts for babies. They have sweet stuffed animals, board books, sensory toys, and wooden Montessori style toys in their Sellwood toy store. It’s perfect for the littlest ones!
7044 SE Milwaukie Ave, Portland, OR 97202
*The Bull & The Bee is merging with Oodles Toys in spring 2024, and reopening at 6237 SE Milwaukie Ave as Oodles Kids. Before your visit, see their website for updates as they transition to their new space.
Piccolo Mondo
If you live on the westside, you’ve probably seen a Piccolo Mondo! They have three Portland area toy stores, in Hillsboro, Bethany, and Progress Ridge. They’re local and family-owned, with incredible customer service. They have a solid selection of quality toys from brands like Hape, Playmobil, and Melissa and Doug. It’s a fun spot to pick up a fidget toy in Portland or choose your next family Lego build!
Hillsboro: 263 E Main St, Hillsboro, OR 97123
Bethany: 4768 NW Bethany Blvd C5, Portland, OR 97229
Progress Ridge: 12345 SW Horizon Blvd Suite 43, Beaverton, OR 97007
Grasshopper Boutique
Toy Store in Portland, Oregon
Grasshopper is a sweet little children’s store in the heart of Portland’s Alberta neighborhood. They carry a selection of cute clothing, unique toys, and imaginative books for kids.
1816 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211
Hammer + Jacks
SE Portland Toy Store
Hold on. Toys, balloons, and a cute little red delivery van for said toys and balloons? I’m in. They also host kid open mic nights on a big tv-shaped stage and story hours in their whimsical space–how fun is that? This is our new favorite community spot when we’re in the Foster-Powell neighborhood.
6406 SE Foster Rd, Portland, OR 97206
